The 997.1 Targa 4S represents Porsche's brilliant reimagining of the iconic Targa concept, ditching the removable roof panel for an elegant sliding glass roof system. Built for just two model years, this rare variant combined the 355-hp 3.8-liter flat-six from the Carrera S with standard all-wheel drive, creating a uniquely capable grand tourer. The complex panoramic roof mechanism, while heavier than a traditional sunroof, offered an unparalleled open-air experience with coupe-like structural rigidity. Production numbers were deliberately limited, making these among the most exclusive 997s.
