The 997.1 Turbo S Cabriolet represents Porsche's brief but memorable farewell to the Mezger engine era. With only two model years of production, this drop-top variant of the ultimate 997 Turbo packs a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six producing 530 horsepower—30 more than the standard Turbo. The ceramic composite brakes, sport suspension, and distinctive center-lock wheels came standard, along with exclusive interior appointments. What makes this particularly collectible is its rarity; Porsche built far fewer Turbo S Cabriolets than their coupe counterparts, and the 2008-2009 window was exceptionally narrow. The Mezger engine's motorsport pedigree and bulletproof reputation, combined with the last-of-the-line status before the 997.2's switch to direct injection, has collectors taking notice. Values have appreciated significantly as enthusiasts recognize this as the end of an era for air-cooled engine architecture in turbocharged 911s.
