About the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
The final chapter of Mitsubishi's rally-bred legend, the Evo X represented both evolution and swan song for the iconic nameplate. Built on the new GS platform, it featured a refined 291-hp 4B11T turbocharged four-cylinder and Mitsubishi's advanced S-AWC all-wheel-drive system with three differentials. The sophisticated Super All Wheel Control could vector torque between all four wheels, making it devastatingly effective on track despite its increased weight and complexity compared to earlier Evos. While purists mourned the loss of the raw 4G63 engine, the X delivered unprecedented sophistication and daily usability. Production ended in 2016 with the Final Edition, marking the end of a 24-year run that began with the original CD9A. Today's collectors appreciate the X as the most refined Evo ever built, though earlier models still command premium prices for their mechanical purity and rally heritage.
