About the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
The IX marked the final evolution of Mitsubishi's legendary rally-bred sedan, representing the pinnacle of two decades of WRC development. Under the hood, the 4G63 turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder delivered 286 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque through Mitsubishi's sophisticated Super All Wheel Control system. The IX introduced a new aluminum roof and revised Active Yaw Control, sharpening an already razor-precise chassis that could embarrass supercars on twisty roads. With Recaro seats, Brembo brakes, and that iconic hood scoop, it was pure function over form. Only produced for two model years before Mitsubishi exited the US performance market, clean examples are increasingly sought after by enthusiasts who appreciate its raw, uncompromising character. The IX represents the end of an era, the last true Evo before the brand's American performance hiatus, making it a significant piece of JDM history.
