About the 1994 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
The original Lancer Evolution launched Mitsubishi's legendary rally-bred dynasty, transforming a humble sedan into a giant-killer that would dominate both WRC stages and tuner culture. Built around the 4G63T turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 244 horsepower, the Evo I featured Mitsubishi's sophisticated all-wheel-drive system and active differentials that made it devastatingly effective on any surface. The aggressive bodywork, including that iconic rear wing, wasn't just for show, it was homologation special engineering at its finest. Only produced for two years with roughly 5,000 units total, the Evo I established the template that would spawn nine more generations. Today, clean examples command serious money as collectors recognize it as the genesis of one of the greatest performance car lineages ever created. The raw, unfiltered driving experience and historical significance make it the most coveted Evolution among purists.
