Larry Shinoda's Boss 302 represents Trans-Am racing homologation at its finest, built to battle Camaro Z/28s on road courses. The high-revving 302 small-block with its solid lifter cam and four-bolt mains produced an underrated 290 hp, while the competition suspension and Magnum 500 wheels delivered serious handling. With only 8,641 built across two years, the Boss 302 was Ford's answer to Chevrolet's Z/28 dominance. The distinctive side stripes, front spoiler, and rear wing created an aggressive aesthetic that perfectly matched the car's track-bred performance. Parnelli Jones's Trans-Am championship validated the Boss's racing credentials. Today, authentic Boss 302s are among the most sought-after muscle cars, especially 1969 models with their cleaner styling and rarer production numbers.
