About the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R
The 2016 GT350R marked Shelby's return to serious track duty with Ford's first flat-plane crank V8 in a production car. The naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter Voodoo engine screams to 8,250 rpm, producing 526 hp with an intoxicating soundtrack that recalls European exotics. Carbon fiber wheels, aero package, and stripped interior created the most track-focused Mustang since the original Boss models. As a homologation special for FIA GT3 racing, the GT350R bridges modern performance with racing pedigree. The manual-only transmission and analog driving experience make it increasingly rare in today's automated sports car landscape. Early examples are already appreciating as collectors recognize this as the last of the old-school, naturally-aspirated performance Mustangs before Ford's shift to forced induction across the lineup.
