About the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350
The GT350 marked Ford's return to serious track-focused Mustangs with its revolutionary 5.2L Voodoo flat-plane crank V8. This naturally aspirated masterpiece revved to 8,250 rpm, producing 526 horsepower with an intoxicating soundtrack that rivaled exotic supercars. Developed for FIA GT3 homologation, the GT350 featured extensive chassis modifications, MagneRide suspension, and Brembo brakes. The Tremec TR-3160 six-speed was specifically calibrated for track use, while Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires provided serious grip. R-package cars deleted rear seats and air conditioning for ultimate track focus. With production ending in 2020, clean GT350s are rapidly appreciating, particularly R-models and final-year Heritage Edition cars. The flat-plane V8 represents a unique chapter in American performance, unlikely to be repeated.
