About the 2018 Porsche Cayenne S

The third-generation Cayenne S represents Porsche's mastery of the performance SUV formula, built on the lightweight MLB Evo platform shared with the Bentley Bentayga. Michael Mauer's design evolution sharpened the SUV's stance while maintaining the controversial-turned-iconic silhouette that saved Porsche in the early 2000s. The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 delivers 434 horsepower through an eight-speed Tiptronic, launching this 4,800-pound SUV to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, faster than many sports cars from the previous decade. Built in Leipzig alongside the Macan, the current Cayenne S offers genuine Porsche dynamics with air suspension and rear-wheel steering. While not yet a collector's item, early examples with desirable options like the Sport Chrono package and carbon ceramics may prove significant as Porsche transitions toward electrification, marking the end of an era for naturally-aspirated performance SUVs.
