About the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR
The IX MR represents the final evolution of Mitsubishi's legendary 4G63 engine, making it the last of the truly classic Evos. With 286 horsepower and a 4.3-second 0-60 time, it delivered devastating performance wrapped in the MR's weight-saving aluminum panels and Bilstein suspension. The IX's MIVEC variable valve timing marked the 4G63's swan song, extracting maximum potential from the iron-block legend that powered every Evolution from I through IX. Only produced for two model years, the IX MR has achieved cult status among collectors who view it as the ultimate expression of the original Evolution formula. Clean examples are becoming increasingly rare and valuable, as many were modified or tracked hard. For purists, the IX MR represents the end of an era, the last true analog Evolution.
