Common questions
How much does a Dodge Viper cost?
A 1992 Dodge Viper cost $50,000 new. Across every sale we have on file, 12 have sold publicly at a median of $49,255. The Shifty Estimate for a well-kept example is $42,500. Cars have changed hands anywhere from $31,875 to $53,125, depending on mileage, color, and history.
What is a 1992 Dodge Viper worth today?
The Shifty Estimate is $42,500. We rate confidence low: 12 public sales in a year is not enough to be firm, and the honest range is wide. Treat it as a starting point, not a valuation.
Is a Dodge Viper a good investment?
It has depreciated 15% against its $50,000 list price. Only 285 were built. The caution is spread, not direction: across the sales we have on file, prices ran from $28,750 to $135,000, and mileage explains most of that.

About the 1992 Dodge Viper
The original Dodge Viper RT/10 emerged as America's answer to the Cobra, channeling pure, unfiltered automotive aggression. Born from Bob Lutz's vision and Carroll Shelby's consultation, this first-generation beast packed an 8.0-liter V10 producing 400 horsepower, borrowed from Dodge's truck program and hand-assembled by Lamborghini. With no roof, no windows, no ABS, and no traction control, the RT/10 demanded respect and rewarded skill. Only 285 were built in 1992, making early examples particularly coveted. The lightweight fiberglass body and brutal power-to-weight ratio delivered supercar performance at a fraction of European prices. Side exhaust pipes and that distinctive long-hood silhouette became instantly iconic. Today, clean first-gen Vipers represent the last of the analog supercars, raw, mechanical, and utterly visceral. Values have steadily climbed as collectors recognize these as the purest expression of American performance excess.
