Osamu Shikado's redesigned SRT-10 coupe marked the Viper's maturation into a legitimate supercar competitor. The enlarged 8.4-liter V10 produced 600 horsepower, finally giving the Viper the power to match its intimidating presence. Built at the dedicated Conner Avenue facility, these Gen 4 coupes featured improved ergonomics, better build quality, and more sophisticated suspension tuning than their predecessors. The aggressive styling with functional hood louvers and side exhausts maintained the Viper's menacing character while adding refinement. Performance was devastating—3.5 seconds to 60 mph and over 200 mph capability made it competitive with European exotics costing twice as much. Today's collectors appreciate the SRT-10 coupe as the sweet spot in Viper evolution: more civilized than early cars but retaining the raw character that later generations would dilute.
