What is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (1969 COPO) worth today?

The Shifty Estimate is $440,000. That sits above the $308,000 median of actual sales because the median counts every car that sold, including high-mileage examples, while the estimate describes a clean, low-mileage one bought today. We rate confidence low: 4 public sales in a year is not enough to be firm, and the honest range is wide. Treat it as a starting point, not a valuation.

About the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (1969 COPO)

The 1969 ZL1 COPO represents the ultimate first-generation Camaro, and one of the rarest muscle cars ever built. Only 69 were produced through Chevrolet's Central Office Production Order system, making each one a seven-figure collectible today. The all-aluminum 427 ZL1 engine was essentially a race motor, producing an underrated 430 hp but likely closer to 500. At $7,269, more than twice a base Camaro's price, few buyers could justify the cost, creating today's incredible rarity. Don Yenko ordered most of them for his performance shop, adding to their mystique. The ZL1's aluminum block made it lighter than iron big-blocks while delivering devastating performance. Each survivor is documented and known to collectors. Owning a ZL1 COPO is like holding a piece of muscle car mythology, the ultimate expression of Chevrolet's 1960s performance philosophy.
