About the 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
The C6 Z06 represents the last naturally aspirated Corvette flagship, and what a swan song it was. Tom Peters' design housed the legendary LS7 7.0-liter V8, hand-built at GM's Performance Build Center, delivering 505 horsepower through a screaming 7,000 rpm redline. With its carbon fiber body panels, magnesium roof structure, and titanium exhaust, the Z06 shed 136 pounds compared to the base Corvette while adding serious track capability. The dry-sump oiling system and massive Brembo brakes made it a genuine track weapon that could embarrass supercars costing twice as much. Today, clean examples with low miles command premium prices as collectors recognize this as the end of an era, the final chapter before forced induction took over America's sports car.
