About the 1993 Mercedes-Benz G-Class 500GE
The 500 GE is a rare V8 G built in 1993. Only 446 were built, against a plan for 500. It has a 5.0L V8 making 238 hp. Mercedes shipped the body from Graz to AMG in Affalterbach, where the V8 was fitted. A 6.0L AMG version was also built in tiny numbers, with 13 units reported. The 500 GE is the first V8 G. Collectors verify the chassis plate and the build records closely. Original engine and a documented history matter most. Look for rust and unmodified suspension. Confirm the engine bay shows the correct AMG fitted parts. Keep the AMG build sheet with the car.
