The tenth-generation Thunderbird marked Ford's attempt to recapture the personal luxury coupe magic of earlier decades, but this MN12 platform car struggled to find its identity in a changing market. Built on the same architecture as the Lincoln Mark VIII, it featured independent rear suspension and available supercharged V8 power—a 3.8-liter unit producing 210 hp in SC trim. The aerodynamic styling, penned by Jack Telnack's team, was polarizing but undeniably of its era. While lacking the cultural cachet of first-generation Birds, these later T-Birds offer surprising performance credentials and represent the end of an era for American personal luxury cars. Super Coupe models with their distinctive styling cues are increasingly sought after by collectors who appreciate their blend of comfort and capability.
