The late-production MGB represents the final evolution of Britain's most successful sports car, with these 1975-1980 examples marking the end of an era. While purists often favor earlier chrome-bumper cars, these rubber-bumper MGBs offer their own appeal with improved safety equipment and refined engineering. The 1.8-liter B-series four-cylinder produced around 62 horsepower in emission-controlled form, paired with the classic four-speed manual transmission. Production during this period totaled approximately 100,000 units before MG ceased operations in 1980. Today's collectors increasingly appreciate these final MGBs for their relative affordability and easier restoration compared to earlier models. The convertible top mechanism was well-sorted by this point, and many examples survive with original Rostyle wheels and period accessories. While not the fastest or most valuable MGB variant, these late cars represent accessible entry points into classic British motoring with genuine MG DNA intact.
