About the 1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight
The ultimate E-Type, the Lightweight represents Jaguar's most focused interpretation of Malcolm Sayer's masterpiece. Built as homologation specials for racing, just 12 examples left Browns Lane with aluminum bodies, lightweight interiors, and competition-tuned 3.8-liter straight-sixes producing 344 horsepower. These weren't street cars with track pretensions, they were purpose-built racers that happened to be road legal. The Lightweight's aluminum monocoque construction saved crucial weight over the standard steel car, while wider rear tracks and competition suspension delivered handling to match the increased power. Today, these dozen survivors rank among the most valuable E-Types ever made, representing the purest expression of Jaguar's racing DNA from the golden age of motorsport.
