Ferrari showed the 599 GTB Fiorano at the Geneva show at the end of February 2006. The car takes its name from the Fiorano circuit Ferrari uses to hone its cars. GTB stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta. The number 599 is the V12's displacement divided by 10. Top Gear describes the engine as derived from the Enzo's. The 65-degree V12 made 620 hp at 7,600 rpm. Ferrari quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed over 330 km/h.

In 2010 Ferrari added the 599 GTO, the road-homologated version of the 599XX prototype. Its V12 made 670 hp at 8,250 rpm. Top Gear says nearly 100 kg of weight was lost. The GTO was faster around Fiorano than an Enzo, according to evo. The 599 SA Aperta used the GTO's 670 bhp engine. It was a tribute to Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina. Only 80 were made. A 599XX Evoluzione package took the V12 to 740 bhp.

evo lists the 599 GTB as a 2006 to 2012 model and names the F12 as its successor. The 599 won evo Car of the Year in 2006.
