Aston Martin launched the V8 Vantage in 1977. It used a 5.3-liter V8. The car earned the title of Britain's first supercar. In 1986 the V8 gained bigger carburetors and racing-type cylinder heads. Output reached 427bhp. The Vantage was finally retired in 1989.
The Vantage name returned in 1993 on a high-performance variant of the Virage. It used a twin-supercharged 5.3-liter V8 with 550bhp, later 600bhp. The 2005 Vantage arrived as a standalone model. It came in V8 and V12 forms. Aston Martin introduced the V8 Vantage at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005 for the 2006 model year. It had a bonded aluminum structure.
A new generation arrived for 2018 with turbocharged engines. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 came from Mercedes-AMG. In 2024 Aston Martin unveiled a further update with 665 PS. For 2025 the engine received new turbos, revised cam profiles, an optimized compression ratio and improved cooling. For 2026 the Vantage roadster made its debut. A higher-performance Vantage S coupe with 670 hp also joined the lineup.
