About the 1992 Cadillac Eldorado
The final-generation Eldorado represents Cadillac's last hurrah for the personal luxury coupe, marking the end of a nameplate that defined American automotive elegance since 1953. Built on GM's E-platform, these front-wheel-drive coupes featured the potent Northstar V8, initially 4.6 liters producing 295 horsepower, later bumped to 300hp. The sleek, angular bodywork by Wayne Cherry's design team aged remarkably well, especially on the limited ETC trim with its sport suspension and distinctive wheel designs. Production totaled roughly 300,000 units across the decade, with the final 1,596 cars in 2002 wearing special commemorative badges.
