About the 1979 Mercedes-Benz G-Class 250GD
The 250 GD in the W461 line is best known as the German army Wolf, built in 1990 and 1991. It has a 2.5L five cylinder diesel making 91 hp. Factory figures are 0 to 62 mph in 27 seconds and a top speed of 79 mph. The Wolf is the plain utility body with military fittings. Collectors look for the original military equipment, correct paint and documented service history. Check for frame rust, door seam rust and a clean gearbox. Many ex military G models have been converted for civilian use, so unaltered cars stand out. Verify papers with care, since demilitarization differs by country.
