About the 1966 Jensen FF
The FF stands as one of automotive history's most innovative yet commercially unsuccessful cars. Jensen pioneered all-wheel drive in a road car, using Ferguson's sophisticated system that split torque 37/63 front to rear. Combined with Dunlop's Maxaret anti-lock braking system, the FF offered unprecedented all-weather capability and safety. The 6.3-liter Chrysler V8 provided massive torque, while the longer wheelbase accommodated the complex drivetrain. Touring's elegant styling matched anything from Italy, but the £6,000 price tag, double an E-Type's cost, limited sales to just 320 units. The FF's advanced engineering influenced Audi's Quattro development decades later. Today, collectors recognize the FF as a fascinating technological dead-end that was simply ahead of its time. Values reflect both the car's rarity and historical significance as the world's first AWD supercar.
