About the 1997 Bentley Turbo R RT
The Turbo RT represents Bentley's final hurrah before BMW's takeover, and what a send-off it was. Built on the legendary Mulsanne platform, this heavyweight bruiser packed a 6.75-liter turbocharged V8 producing 400 horsepower and a mountain-moving 590 lb-ft of torque. Despite weighing over 5,500 pounds, the RT could sprint to 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds, remarkable for a full-size luxury sedan in the late '90s. Only 252 examples were produced during its brief three-year run, making it one of the rarest modern Bentleys. The RT featured distinctive 18-inch wheels, lowered suspension, and subtle body modifications that distinguished it from the standard Turbo R. Today, these represent the last of the truly analog Bentleys before electronic nannies took over, appealing to collectors who appreciate old-school British muscle wrapped in Savile Row tailoring.
