About the 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante
The DB11 Volante represented Aston Martin's return to serious convertible grand touring after years of compromised drop-tops. The AMG-sourced V8 actually suited the Volante's character better than the V12, providing ample performance while improving weight distribution and handling balance. Reichman's design team managed the difficult task of maintaining the coupe's proportions while accommodating the folding roof mechanism. The fabric top's sophisticated engineering allowed for 200-mph capability when raised, a genuine achievement. Production numbers favor the V12, making V8 Volantes relatively rare. As Aston transitions away from internal combustion, the DB11 Volante stands as perhaps the last truly great Aston convertible, combining modern performance with traditional grand touring elegance.
