The 575 Superamerica reimagined the 575M Maranello as a true convertible rather than a targa or roadster, using an electrochromic glass roof — a production Ferrari first — that rotated on a single rear pivot to stow flush over the rear deck, eliminating the folding-roof mechanism a conventional convertible would need. Ferrari built 559 examples for the 2005-2006 model year, each with the glass panel's tint electronically adjustable from clear to dark. The engineering party piece commanded a real premium over the coupe at launch and still does today: Superamerica values consistently run well above contemporary 575M Maranello coupes, with top results approaching $1M, a spread collectors attribute to the roof mechanism's complexity and the model's status as 575M's only genuine open-air variant.
