About the 2001 Aston Martin Vanquish
The original Vanquish marked Aston Martin's bold leap into the 21st century, replacing the aging Virage as the flagship. Built around a carbon fiber and aluminum chassis, this was Aston's first truly modern supercar, powered by a naturally aspirated 5.9-liter V12 producing 460 horsepower. The hand-built Newport Pagnell construction maintained old-world craftsmanship while Ian Callum's dramatic styling, with its aggressive stance and distinctive side strakes, established the design language for future Astons. Only 2,589 examples were produced over six years, making it relatively exclusive. The automated manual transmission was controversial among purists, but the Vanquish's combination of raw V12 sound, stunning looks, and Die Another Day fame cemented its status. Today, early examples represent excellent value in the Aston Martin hierarchy, offering flagship performance and presence at a fraction of newer models' cost.
