About the 1989 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL500 Brabus 6.0

The Brabus 6.0 is an R129 500 SL with an enlarged V8 from Brabus. Brabus started with the M119 V8 and took it to 6.0 liters. A classic car listing gives 402 horsepower. PistonHeads says about 400. That listing says about 45 R129 500 SLs got the conversion. PistonHeads reports a 0 to 60 time under six seconds and 180 mph with the limiter removed. Collectors like it as a rare early Brabus roadster with period parts. When buying, ask for the Brabus invoice, the engine number stamp and the Brabus plate. Check the engine capacity, because an SL 500 with Brabus wheels is not a 6.0.
