About the 1985 De Tomaso Pantera GT5-S

Marcello Gandini's radical redesign transformed the Pantera into something approaching Group 5 race car aesthetics for the street. Only 183 GT5-S models were produced, featuring massive fender flares, aggressive aerodynamics, and a switch to the more reliable 302 Windsor V8. The dramatic bodywork housed 350 horsepower capable of propelling this Italian exotic to 168 mph. Gandini's influence is unmistakable, the same designer behind the Countach brought similar angular aggression to Modena. The GT5-S represented De Tomaso's final evolution of the Pantera theme, combining two decades of development with 1980s supercar excess. At $55,000 when new, these were serious money, and their rarity makes them highly sought after today. Collectors appreciate the GT5-S as the ultimate expression of the Pantera concept.
