The MG MGB Mk1 was built from 1962 to 1980.
The GT, the most traded version: The MGB GT transformed the beloved roadster into a practical grand tourer with Pininfarina's elegant fastback design. This fixed-roof variant offered genuine year-round usability while maintaining the B-series charm that made MG famous. With 125,282 units produced over 15 years, the GT struck the perfect balance between sportiness and practicality. The 1.8-liter four-cylinder delivered modest but engaging performance, while the distinctive rear hatch and occasional rear seats made it genuinely versatile. Today's collectors appreciate the GT's cleaner lines compared to later rubber-bumper models, with early chrome-bumper examples commanding premiums. The model's long production run means parts availability remains excellent, making it an ideal entry point into classic British sports car ownership.
