The Honda S2000 AP2 was built from 2004 to 2009.
The S2000, the most traded version: Honda's S2000 represents the final flowering of naturally aspirated sports car purity. The F20C and later F22C1 VTEC engines are legendary—the F20C's 9,000 rpm redline and 240hp from just 2.0 liters made it the highest specific output naturally aspirated production engine ever. Paired with a sublime 6-speed manual and near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution, the S2000 delivered an analog driving experience that's increasingly rare. The 2004-2009 AP2 generation brought the torquier F22C1 engine and revised suspension tuning that tamed some of the original's snap-oversteer tendencies. With only 66,547 S2000s sold in the US across its entire run, clean examples are becoming serious collectibles. The combination of Honda reliability, VTEC theater, and pure rear-drive dynamics makes this the NSX's spiritual successor—and potentially the last great naturally aspirated Honda sports car.
