About the 1990 BMW M3 Sport Evolution
The Sport Evolution represents the ultimate expression of the original M3 concept. BMW Motorsport developed this final E30 M3 variant with a larger 2.5-liter engine producing 238 hp, enhanced aerodynamics, and weight-saving measures. The distinctive adjustable rear wing and aggressive front splitter weren't mere styling exercises, they were developed in BMW's wind tunnel for maximum downforce. With only 600 examples produced exclusively for the European market, the Sport Evolution is the rarest and most desirable E30 M3 variant. Each car came with unique features including lightweight wheels, stripped interiors, and homologation specials' typical sparse equipment. Values have exploded in recent years, with pristine examples commanding $150,000-$300,000. The Sport Evolution represents the purest distillation of BMW's touring car philosophy.
