The 968 represents Porsche's final evolution of the front-engine, rear-drive formula that began with the 924. Built from 1991-1995, it featured a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter four-cylinder producing 236 horsepower—making it the world's largest displacement four-cylinder in a production car at the time. The sophisticated VarioCam variable valve timing system helped deliver both tractable low-end torque and high-rev excitement. With its distinctive pop-up headlights, flared fenders, and near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution, the 968 offered exceptional handling dynamics. Only about 12,000 were built worldwide, with roughly 4,000 reaching the US market.
