About the 1937 Cord 812 Sedan

The 812 Sedan represented Cord's final attempt at mainstream luxury, refining the revolutionary 810 design for 1937 production. Buehrig's team addressed many of the 810's teething problems while maintaining the car's stunning visual impact. The wraparound grille became slightly more prominent, and mechanical improvements enhanced reliability, though not enough to save the struggling company. With 1,146 sedans produced, the 812 is marginally more common than its 810 predecessor but remains extraordinarily rare by any standard. The Lycoming V8 and front-wheel-drive layout continued to represent advanced engineering, decades ahead of its time. Today, 812 Sedans offer collectors a chance to own one of automotive history's most important designs at a somewhat more accessible price point than the legendary 810. Every 812 survivor represents a piece of American industrial artistry from the depths of the Great Depression.
