The Triumph TR TR3 was built from 1955 to 1957.
The TR3 Base, the most traded version: The TR3 refined the TR2's successful formula while maintaining the essential character that made Triumph's sports cars famous. With 13,377 units produced from 1955-1957, the TR3 is more accessible than its predecessor while still being quite rare today. The improved 2.0-liter engine produced 95 hp, delivering a 10.8-second 0-60 time and 105 mph top speed. Key improvements included a more robust rear axle and refined suspension geometry, addressing some of the TR2's shortcomings. The TR3's competition success continued Triumph's sporting reputation, with victories in rallying and racing cementing its credentials. Today's collectors appreciate the TR3 as representing the sweet spot between rarity and usability in the early TR lineage. Values have steadily appreciated as enthusiasts recognize the TR3's role in establishing Triumph's sports car legacy. Clean, matching-numbers examples are increasingly difficult to find, making the TR3 a solid investment for British sports car enthusiasts.
