The Mitsubishi Eclipse was built from 1989 to 2012.

The 2G (DSM) Eclipse, the most traded version: The second-generation Eclipse marked Mitsubishi's peak in the American sports car market, riding high on Fast & Furious fame and genuine performance credentials. The 2G Eclipse refined the original's formula with cleaner styling penned by Olivier Boulay and improved structural rigidity. Base models came with the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4G63 producing 140hp, but the real stars were the turbocharged GST and GSX variants pushing 210hp through either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The GSX's sophisticated AWD system and potent turbo four made it a legitimate rival to the Subaru WRX. Production ended in 1999 as Mitsubishi shifted focus, making clean examples increasingly sought after. Enthusiasts particularly prize the '97-'99 models with their revised front fascia and improved interior. Rising values reflect growing appreciation for this era of affordable Japanese performance, especially unmolested GSX models that escaped the modification craze.
