The MG MGC was built from 1967 to 1969.
The Roadster, the most traded version: The MGC Roadster was MG's ambitious attempt to create a six-cylinder sports car, replacing the discontinued Austin-Healey 3000 in BMC's lineup. The 2.9-liter straight-six delivered 145 horsepower and genuine 120mph performance, but the engine's weight compromised the nimble handling that made the MGB special. Heavy steering and understeer plagued the model, leading to poor sales and early discontinuation after just 8,999 roadsters were built. Today, the MGC's rarity makes it highly collectible despite its dynamic shortcomings. The distinctive bonnet bulge and wider track are telltale signs, while the smooth six-cylinder provides effortless cruising ability the four-cylinder B lacks. Values have risen sharply as collectors recognize the MGC's significance as the last traditional British six-cylinder sports car from Abingdon.
