The Honda Civic Type R FL5 has been built since 2023.
The Civic Type R, the most traded version: The FK8-generation Civic Type R's successor brings Honda's hot hatch formula into the 2020s with refined aggression. The 2.0-liter VTEC turbo now produces 315 horsepower, making this the most powerful Type R yet. Honda toned down the boy-racer aesthetics while sharpening the driving dynamics, creating a more mature but equally thrilling package. The six-speed manual remains sacred, delivering power through a limited-slip differential to the front wheels. Built exclusively in Japan at Honda's Yorii plant, this generation represents the culmination of decades of Type R development. Early examples are already commanding premiums over MSRP, and with Honda's electrification timeline, this could be among the last naturally-aspirated VTEC Type Rs. Clean, low-mileage examples will likely appreciate as enthusiasts recognize this as the end of an era.
