The Cadillac Eldorado 1961-1966 was built from 1961 to 1966.
The Eldorado, the most traded version: The 1961-1966 Cadillac Eldorado represents the pinnacle of American luxury during the height of Detroit's golden age. Built on Cadillac's exclusive 129-inch wheelbase platform, these hand-assembled convertibles commanded nearly twice the price of a standard DeVille. The fourth-generation Eldorado introduced cleaner, more refined styling that abandoned the excessive chrome of the '50s while maintaining unmistakable presence. Under the hood, Cadillac's legendary 390-cubic-inch V8 delivered effortless power through a smooth Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission. Production remained deliberately low—typically under 2,000 units annually—making these among the rarest postwar Cadillacs. The '66 model year marked the end of an era, as Cadillac transitioned to front-wheel-drive architecture. Today, well-preserved examples command strong collector interest, particularly the final-year '66 models. These Eldorados epitomize American automotive luxury before safety regulations and emissions controls changed everything forever.
