The BMW X6 M F96 has been built since 2020.
The X6 M, the most traded version: BMW's controversial X6 M represents the brand's bold push into the performance SAC (Sports Activity Coupe) segment, dividing purists while delivering undeniable capability. The current generation packs a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 producing 617 horsepower in Competition trim, launching this 5,300-pound behemoth to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. Chris Bangle's original coupe-SUV design language may have aged into acceptance, but the X6 M's appeal lies in its absurd contradiction—a vehicle that shouldn't work yet dominates both Nürburgring lap times and luxury SUV sales charts. While traditional collectors might scoff, the X6 M's rarity in the used market and BMW M's growing collector recognition suggest early examples could appreciate. It's automotive cognitive dissonance at its finest: practically useless yet utterly desirable.
