About the 1953 AC Ace Bristol-less

The AC Ace Standard launched AC Cars into the modern era and established the template for the legendary Cobra. John Tojeiro's brilliant chassis design, featuring independent front suspension and a lightweight tubular frame, was revolutionary for 1953. The 2.0-liter AC inline-six produced a modest 102 horsepower, but the Ace's 1,600-pound curb weight delivered genuine sports car performance. With only 729 examples built over its decade-long run, the Standard represents the purest expression of AC's vision before Bristol engines and later Ford V8s transformed the breed. Today, these Thames Ditton originals are highly sought after by collectors who appreciate their elegant simplicity and historical significance as the foundation for one of Britain's greatest sports car success stories.
