The Toyota 2000GT was built from 1967 to 1970.
The 2000GT, the most traded version: Japan's first supercar remains one of the most coveted classics ever produced. With only 351 examples built over four years, the 2000GT was Toyota's ambitious statement piece, designed by Albrecht Goertz and engineered with Yamaha's expertise. The twin-cam 2.0-liter inline-six produced 150 horsepower in a lightweight, aerodynamic package that could reach 137 mph—impressive for 1967. Beyond performance, the 2000GT established Japan as a serious player in the luxury sports car market. Its Bond film appearance in 'You Only Live Twice' added Hollywood glamour to engineering excellence. Today's collector market reflects this rarity and significance, with pristine examples commanding well over $1 million. For enthusiasts, owning a 2000GT means possessing a piece of automotive history that bridged Japan's industrial rise with timeless design.
