The Mitsubishi Lancer was built from 2002 to 2017.
The Lancer, the most traded version: The tenth-generation Lancer represents Mitsubishi's bold design pivot, trading the previous model's conservative styling for Hiroaki Kamisago's aggressive 'shark nose' aesthetic. Built on the Global Lancer platform, this generation marked a significant departure with its dramatic front fascia and muscular proportions that would influence Mitsubishi's design language for years. While the base model lacked the rally-bred excitement of its Evolution sibling, it offered solid build quality and the brand's proven 2.0-liter MIVEC four-cylinder producing 152 horsepower. The CVT transmission option was controversial among enthusiasts, though the five-speed manual remained available. Production ended in 2017 as Mitsubishi shifted focus to crossovers, making these final-generation Lancers increasingly significant as the last of their kind. Clean examples with manual transmissions are becoming harder to find, particularly as the tuning community discovers their potential as affordable platforms for modification.
