The MG MGA 1600 was built from 1959 to 1962.
The Roadster, the most traded version: The MGA's final evolution brought twin-cam sophistication to Abingdon's successful roadster formula. This 1600 Mark II represents the most developed version of the MGA, featuring a more powerful 79-horsepower pushrod engine that improved both performance and reliability over earlier variants. With 31,501 units produced, the Mark II offers the perfect balance of collectibility and availability for British roadster enthusiasts. The refined suspension, improved brakes, and classic wire wheels create the quintessential 1960s sports car experience. Today's collectors appreciate the Mark II's combination of period charm, reasonable maintenance requirements, and strong club support. Values have steadily appreciated as enthusiasts recognize these final MGAs as representing the marque's golden age before the corporate upheavals of the 1960s fundamentally changed the brand's character.
