The Aston Martin DB2 was built from 1950 to 1953.
The DB2, the most traded version: The DB2 marked Aston Martin's transformation from cottage industry to serious sports car manufacturer. Built around David Brown's vision after acquiring the company in 1947, it paired Frank Feeley's elegant coupe bodywork with W.O. Bentley's sophisticated 2.6-liter straight-six from Lagonda. The result was Aston's first truly modern GT, capable of genuine 110+ mph performance while maintaining the refinement expected from Newport Pagnell. Only 411 examples were produced over four years, making authentic survivors increasingly precious. The DB2 established the template for every subsequent Aston—front-engine, rear-drive grand touring with impeccable proportions. Racing variants proved the platform's potential at Le Mans, while road cars offered a compelling alternative to Jaguar's XK120. Today's collectors prize the DB2's historical significance as the foundation of Aston's golden age, with well-preserved examples commanding serious attention at auction.
