Alfa Romeo unveiled the Giulia TI on June 27, 1962, at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Its 1,570 cc twin-cam engine produced 92 DIN-rated PS. The Giulia Super was introduced at the 1965 Geneva Motor Show. It carried technology from the racing TI Super to a road car. The four-door Type 105 sedans were produced from 1962 to 1978.

A coupe followed in 1963. The Giulia Sprint GT was first shown to the press at Alfa's recently opened plant in Arese. Giorgetto Giugiaro designed the body for Bertone. The Sprint GTV was first seen at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966. The coupe was developed through numerous series with engines from 1.3 up to 2 liters. Production ended in 1976.

Alfa Romeo revived the Giulia name in 2015 for a compact executive car. It was unveiled on June 24, 2015, at the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Arese. The Quadrifoglio uses a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 sourced from Ferrari. AutoGuide lists 505 horsepower. Alfa Romeo claimed a Nürburgring lap of 7:39, a record for a four-door production sedan. A Giulia Quadrifoglio with an eight-speed automatic later completed a lap in 7:32. Stellantis still builds this Giulia at its Cassino plant.
