About the 2020 BAC Mono R
This ultra-limited 30-unit run marked BAC's brief experiment with increased displacement, bumping the Cosworth-developed engine to 2.5 liters for 340 horsepower. The additional 60 horsepower and 58 lb-ft of torque dropped 0-60 times to 2.5 seconds while raising top speed to 174 mph. The larger engine maintained the Mono's signature naturally-aspirated character while delivering even more devastating performance in the lightweight carbon chassis. At $220,000, these represented the most expensive Mono variant until the recent turbo models. The extreme rarity, just 30 examples worldwide, makes these among the most collectible BAC models ever produced. The 2.5-liter experiment proved short-lived as emissions regulations pushed BAC toward turbocharging, making these naturally-aspirated giants the end of an era. For collectors, these 30 cars represent peak naturally-aspirated Mono performance and will likely appreciate significantly as the rarest variant in the model's history.
